I’ve always been in love with food, but until 12 years ago, when I changed to a plant-based diet, I had never given much thought to what or whom I was eating.
Becoming a vegan gave me a window onto the world of industrial farming and animal production – and the view was not pleasant. Once you are exposed to the truth, you can’t unknow it.
But here’s another truth to keep in mind : eating animal-free is empowering and elating.
In so many senses, eating animals is a burden. Having shrugged that off, I literally walk with a lighter step. Activism is often based on negatives : what we are against. Of course, there is that element : I am opposed to the suffering caused by rearing animals for food, clothes, shoes, entertainment.
But I also fell in love with the vegan lifestyle.
I enjoy sharing the beauty, the pleasure and the fun of celebrating life through cruelty-free products. This must be one of the most gratifying methods of activism out there.
Enjoy Stay Gold!
